A Study on Affection of Children of Alcoholics on their Adjustment to Society and their Character -With Special Reference to Difference of Family Function and Children`s Gender-
Choi Yun-Shin

Abstract
This study is designed to criticize the view of determinism that says danger factor of children of alcoholics affect negative influence on their children, and examine family function between children of alcoholics and its consequences, on which I tried to see if there is a possibility to intervene. I recognized previous studies did not consider gender issue, from that assumption, I searched how family function affects on children¡¯s gender. For this purpose, I made a school-centered survey. Subjects were students that are between the first grade of middle school and the third grade of high school in Seoul & Kyonggi-do area, and I examined them to see if any difference by gender in COAs adjustment, of which I collected 893 answer sheets for the sample data. I classified the data by means of frequency analysis, multi-regression analysis, two-way ANOVA on the SPSS/Win 12.0. Finally, 299 (30%) of all subjects were found as children of alcoholics, and they might experience some problems in COAs adjustment comparing to non-COAs such as social adjustment, internal character, external activities, and school life adjustment. Concerning male COAs, family function affects partially on internal character, external activities, and school adjustment. Concerning female COAs, family function affects partially on internal character, external activities, but it works as a fully mediator onto school adjustment, lastly in terms of external activities, it works as a control variable.
